Good Movie Pick: Widows

We don’t just watch low rated movies, sometimes we watch movies that are actually good. It helps keep us sane. Every month we pick a movie that’s not just good, but something you should make a point to watch.

Ward’s pick this month is Widows (2018) starring Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez, Elizabeth Debicki, Cynthia Erivo, Liam Neeson, Jon Bernthal, Daniel Kaluuya, Carrie Coon, Robert Duvall, Colin Farrell, and Brian Tyree Henry. Set in contemporary Chicago, four women with nothing in common except a debt left behind by their dead husbands’ criminal activities resolve to pay off the debt by engaging in the same crimes that got their husbands killed.

A twisting, well written plot that balances action and character development. McQueen is a great director and he’s working with a fantastic script. This is a well made movie with great dialog and shots. It feels like the characters have lives off screen too. I continuously thought, “Wow, that’s good.” From the dialog to the images and characters, there’s nothing not to like about this.
